Glide Through Hidden Paths of Bangkok off the Tourist Trails and Wallow into the Canals of ‘Venice in the East’ on long-tail Boats.
With many canals throughout the whole city of Bangkok, it is no doubt that this has given Bangkok the name in ‘Venice in the East’. In this tour, we bring you to dive deep into the souls of Bangkok and immerse yourself in this wonderful city. We will go to places which are off the usual tourist trails and away from the heavy traffic of Bangkok. We will also bring you to experience Thailand’s very own Venice lifestyle traversing through the canals by long-tail boats before we end our illustrious tour.
We will gather at the meeting point and have our bike fitting and briefing about the tour near Khao San Rd. Do remember to schedule your time wisely by taking Bangkok’s heavy traffic into consideration. The journey begins with a ride along the banks of the ever magnificent Chao Phraya River where Bangkok first began. We will visit the first Christian community of Santa Cruz, where we can look in on the descendants of the Portuguese traders that makes Portuguese cupcake for over 5 generations. Continue riding through the city of Bangkok and we will reach the famous Chinese Thai Temple of Wat Kalayanamit and Bangkok’s first Chinatown site. In Wat Kalayanamit, you will get to see the imposing sitting Buddhist image which is the largest in Bangkok.
We will then stop by the majestic Shrine of the First King of Bangkok and then discover the beauty of Bangkok’s most beautiful Chapel of Wat Hong Rattanaram. You will be captivated by the stunning murals of the former lives of Buddha beautifully drawn on the four walls of ubosot. After another short ride along small tree-lined canals, you will come to an old wooden market with a historic community temple. The peace and calm will serenade your heart as you reach the Artist’s house, Baan Silapin. The house is a 200-year-old alluring two-story building. You can get souvenirs and gifts from the shop in the house and look at the art gallery. The major highlight of the house is the traditional Thai puppet show performed by the Hoon Lek puppeteers. Its excitement was further elevated when the puppetry was combined with traditional Khon dance that which makes it a very unique form of puppetry. There will be performed unless the puppet troupe is away. You can also feed the abundant fish in the canal with fish food bought there too.
We will then go on a boat ride back to a dock near Khao San Rd where we will then cycle back to the meeting point. During the boat ride, you will breeze through the ancient canals to the Chao Phraya River. Enjoy the calm and serenity as you sail through the river of the kings watching buildings flow past the corner of your eyes. After stepping off the boat, we continue to ride a short distance back to the meeting point and end our tour.
