Familiarise yourself with the beautiful view and crowded marketplace of Lao Cai and Ban Cam Market on an adventurous morning exploration journey.
Your first stop will be Lao Cai, a province to the northeastern side of Vietnam known for its nature, panorama and hillside tribes that are found residing around the valley of Sapa. The journey itself does not take too long - around an hour - and soon, you will find yourself transitioning from the urban landscape all the way to the countryside view of Vietnam. There are many villages found around the area and the fresh Chay River adorns the rural area with its powerful and refreshing water flow. You will have the chance to visit all of them during your trip so strap up and ready yourself for a whole morning of fun.
The crowded Ban Cam Market is a melting pot of cultural and minority infusion for the local people who live around. The communities come together, set up store and sell their products to each other as they exchange farming and cultivating knowledge with one another amidst the bright afternoon. You can find a range of products that you may want to consider purchasing such as local food, clothes and ornaments - all crafted and originally made by the local people. The market itself is located near the road to Bac Ha, only around half an hour’s drive from Lao Cai. The market itself is small but size does not really matter when you have the crowd to help you run things around. If you so wish to, you can also say hello and strike up a quick conversation with the people who will be more than happy to share their stories with you.
Then, proceed with your itinerary by visiting the Flower Hmong village located near the market. You may catch some of them on their way home from the market and bringing along their entire family for the fun and festivity of the Tuesday marketplace. Walk away at a hidden but scenic route straight to the village and continue your visit the Nung minority village afterwards. The Flower Hmong and Nung tribes dress differently and this will be apparent once you lay eyes on the members of the tribe. The Flower Hmong dons a darker-coloured attire while the Nung puts on a brighter-coloured attire in line with their respective traditions and customs. Once you are finished, you will then make your way back to Sapa to conclude your tour with a memory to share with your friends and families.
You will join a colorful local market where many ethnic minorities come and sell their product as well as exchange farming experience. Furthermore, a short walk to a village of the Tay people and a boat trip on Chay River will be very impressive with rice fields surrounded by magnificent mountainous scenery.
