Tour Description:

Day 1- Nam Ou River Cruise/ 100 Waterfall Trek/ Riverside Homestay

Begin your journey with a serene ride on a boat along the Nam Ou river and enjoy the wonderful view of completely unspoiled nature. During your ride, you will encounter a small village that is located along the banks of the Nam Ou river. Observe the friendly locals as they begin their daily tasks and catch the sights of the adorable village children as they roam, playing with one another. Traverse along the beaten roads where you will revel in the stunning nature, from the vast expanse of rice paddies that stretches wide and the small stream that flows nonchalantly. Arrive at the base of the 100 waterfalls, which has only recently been gaining traction amongst foreigners to come and visit. Be within the sights and sounds of nature as you take a dip into the cool waters to soothe the body after the trek along the trails.

Trudge along the varying terrain, which extends to about 2 kilometres upwards at different levels of height. Take on the challenging terrain, which may even include some rough path adjacent to the riverbed and the makeshift bamboo ladders to aid in the steep paths. After some exploration, you will be provided with a delicious lunch and delight yourself in the flavours of Laos, within the midst of the gorgeous nature and the soothing sounds of the waterfall in constant motion. Upon reaching the peak of the 100 waterfalls, you will proceed along a beaten trail, used by the locals to take you into the valley. Bask in an abundance of scenic landscapes along the Nam Ou valley, that is filled with an abundance of old forests that still grow within the fertile lands. The beaten path will take you to the local village that is filled with friendly locals that live peacefully. Observe the locals and their way of life as they are carrying out their daily activities. After an exhausting day, you will spend the night in the serene village that is situated away from the bustling cities.

Day 2 - Jungle Trek/ Boat Cruise

Awake to the sounds of Mother Nature waking up from a long night of sleep. Indulge in some delectable breakfast that will be prepared by your guide, which will surely fill your tummy for the adventure to come! You will head downriver for about 1.5 kilometres, where you will stumble upon the beaten trails that will lead you to a hidden cave. The hidden caves are safe shelter within the depths of the jungle are called the Tham Kang and Tham Phra Kaew caves. The hidden caves carry a deeply historical significance to Laos, as it was the site that the civilians used to evade against the American bombs that were dropped during the Second Indochina Wars in the 1960s.

The path to the Tham Kang and Tam Phra Kaew caves will require at least 4 hours of trekking along glorious rice paddies that extend across the lands. Head through dense jungles up along the mountains, in which the hidden caves are located at. Lunch will be provided when you are in the depths of the caves and you will have a chance delight yourself in the tasty flavours of Laos to replenish your energy. Explore the caves to discover relics and artifacts from a time long gone, which belongs to the inhabitants that stayed in the cave during the war. After exploring the cave, you will head back along a new path and bask in the tranquil sights of nature before heading on a boat cruise and leave behind the peaceful village.

• It is advised to bring along fitness/outdoor clothing, jacket, Teva-style trekking shoes, mosquito repellant, sunscreen, sunhat, hats, sunglasses and day pack
• It is advised to bring along weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, camera and poncho
• It is highly recommended to wear good hiking shoes for the trek as the trail can get wet along the way
