Venture to the Elephant Village Camp where you will meet the friendly giants and learn the art of becoming a proper Mahout!
Day 1 - Elephant Village Camp/ Leisure Activities
Discover the marvels of the ancient city of Luang Prabang, which is also known as the “city of the Golden Buddha Phra Bang”, that is situated at the northern part of Laos. The ancient city of Luang Prabang was designated the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 as the city is filled with striking grand palaces and an abundance of more than 30 gilded Wats (‘temples’) that are found all around the city. Adventure awaits at the Elephant Village Camp that is situated near the ancient city of Luang Prabang. Explore the Elephant Village Camp that is an elephant sanctuary to protect and rehabilitate elephants that are in need when it was established in 2001.
Upon arrival to the camp, you will be greeted by a friendly tour guide that will brief you on the elephants that reside in the camp. Then, you will be given a reusable aluminium water bottle as a way of helping the environment as you are able to refill it with refreshing water for your adventure. Meet the docile mammals during the feeding sessions where you will be able to give treats and interact with the elephants. Explore the camp where you will discover an abundance of amenities, which includes an elephant hospital where the sick elephants can seek proper treatments. Gain some knowledge on the elephants by visiting the elephant museum and photo gallery, where you will have a chance to learn about the elephants and gaze at spectacular pictures of elephants.
Learn the ways of being a Mahout by receiving a Mahout training from the local experts whereby you will learn how to control an elephant. Behold the beautiful sites of Mother Nature’s creation where you will set your sight on an abundance of flora and fauna whilst bareback riding an elephant along a 1 kilometer long river. Upon reaching the end of the river, you will encounter two friendly baby elephants residing in their humble abode. Explore the natural Tad Sae Waterfall on a traditional Laos longtail boat where you will traverse through the moving waters and you will have a chance to splash around the cooling waters and relax along the waterfall.
After an exhausting journey, you will head back to the local restaurant where you will delight yourself in some delectable cuisine that is served in a buffet-style with a tasty tea or coffee and refreshing drinking water. As the day approaches an end, ride the friendly elephant though the dense jungle where you will discover her jungle hideaway where she will leave for the evening. Dinner will be provided at the Elephant Camp restaurant where you will be served delectable food that is served in a set. As the day approaches an end, you will hit the hay at the relaxing Elephant Lodge where you will be able to gaze at the beautiful Nam Khan river that flows to the Luang Prabang.
Day 2 - Elephant Bathing/ Breakfast/ Departure
After awakening from your peaceful slumber, you will hear the sounds of the wildlife lingering in the air where you will begin your journey of the day. Traverse through the luscious jungle where you may even catch the sight of some indigenous animal along the way to the elephant hideout where you will pick one of these mammals to give them a lovely bathe at the Nam Khan river. Feel the joy from the elephant as you splash around and spray water around the body of the elephant to remove dirt from their thick skin.
After a wet experience, you will head to the Elephant camp restaurant where you will gain the pleasure of savouring the delectable cuisine that will be served with either tea or coffee. Have a refreshing drinking water where you will feel quench your throat after an exhausting day. You will then depart from the Elephant Village Camp where you will leave the camp with the fondest of memories.
