Cameron Highlands: Butterfly Farm

Cameron Highlands has a number of farms and gardens that are popular with visitors. Butterfly parks are very interesting to visit and favoured a lot by kids. There are two of the more popular butterfly parks in Cameron Highlands which is the Cameron Highlands Butterfly Garden and Cameron Highlands Butterfly Farm. They are easily accessible in Cameron Highlands compared to some of those which are very deep inside the highlands.

The Cameron Highlands Butterfly Farm is one of the more popular attractions in the area. It is located at Kea Farm in Brinchang. The farm showcases a variety of butterflies that roam freely in the farm enclosure. If you are lucky, the butterflies might even stop on your body to give you a closer look at it. Once you go into the farm, you will see butterflies fluttering around from flowers to flowers. The farm is filled with plants that are butterfly friendly and flowers are everywhere. There are many butterflies with very pretty and interesting patterns on their wings in the enclosure. Despite its name consisting of the word farm, the place does not breed nor cultivate butterflies for the farm but the butterflies are wild specimens captured regularly.

One of the things to do in Cameron Highlands Butterfly Farm is, of course, seeing butterflies flying around the farm. The main butterfly species that can be seen here is the famous Rajah Brooke’s Butterfly which is also Malaysia’s National Butterfly. The other butterflies with colourful wings will also capture your attention as you explore the farm. Other than that, the farm also displays a wide collection of beetles in separate glass boxes which is also interesting to see. There are also other insects, lizards, snakes and mammals on display in the farm.

Other than the Cameron Highlands Butterfly Farm, there is another butterfly park in the area which is the Cameron Highlands Butterfly Garden. Do note that although their names can be very similar they are actually two different parks. However, what they have are actually quite similar but there are still some notable differences between both of them. The butterfly garden is located also at the Kea Farm in Brinchang. The Cameron Highlands Butterfly Garden consists of a large enclosure along a hill slope.

The garden has a very unique geographical position located on a hill slope. However, it is big enough to have a variety of butterflies and some other animals in the display. Once you enter into the garden section you will see lots of different butterflies fluttering around freely. Each of the butterflies has different beautiful colours that will amaze you. Other things to do in Cameron Highlands Butterfly Garden are seeing the live insects displayed in aquariums such as beetles, stick insects and many more. The garden is also a mini zoo that has tortoise pen, scorpion pond, reptile exhibits such as snakes and lizards, aviaries and a small petting zoo. It is an interesting place to stop by on your trip.
